Featured Speaker: J. R. Shaw '15, creator and host of Galveston Unscripted podcast
J.R. Shaw is the creator and host of the Galveston Unscripted podcast, entrepreneur, writer, speaker, and history enthusiast who can't sit still. J.R. was raised along the Texas coast, where he learned to talk with people from all walks of life. He graduated from Texas A&M University - Galveston with a degree in Maritime Administration and a minor in economics in 2015. He worked in various roles in the Maritime industry for nearly a decade until 2022. He turned a passion project into his full-time job. J.R. 's podcast, Galveston Unscripted, doubles as an audio tour of Galveston and has been featured in Coast Monthly Magazine, is partnered with VisitGalveston.com, and has hosted and been featured on other top Texas History podcasts.
In 2022, J.R. was named to the Galveston County 40 Under 40, the Galveston Historical Foundation Awarded Galveston Unscripted the Sally B. Wallace Historic Preservation Award, and it has been dubbed "The Official Podcast of Galveston."
