It’s summer in Houston. No one wants to go outside in the heat. But studies have repeatedly shown that access to natural light can improve workers’ health and happiness, decrease stress, even improve students’ learning.

Having trouble sleeping? A walk in the morning daylight may be just the ticket to a good night’s sleep!

Add the benefits of walking in nature, and you’ve got the winning combination to improve overall physical and mental health, increase attention span, enhance memory, and fight disease.

Dr. Jay Maddock is internationally recognized for his research and has authored over 140 scientific articles.   He is a TAMU Regents Professor and currently serves as Director of the Center for Nature and Health, a joint program with Houston Methodist Hospital, Texas A&M System and Texan by Nature.

Before that, he was Chief Wellness Officer at Texas A&M University and Dean of the School of Public Health.

Before coming to Texas A&M, he led the research arm of the Healthy Hawaii Initiative, a comprehensive program to improve health in Hawaii.  During his tenure, Hawaii was named the Healthiest State in America.

Houston, we have a problem.  Texas ranks 38th (out of 50 states).   According to America’s 2022 Health Ranking, every SEC school is located in a state whose health rankings are in the bottom one-half of all states – only Florida ranks above the lowest 28 percent.

Dr. Maddock wants to impact the health of Texas and other southern states as he did in Hawaii.

Our events are OPEN TO ALL - men and women, Aggies and Non-Aggies - anyone needing a little boost.

Connect with other H-town Aggies for another "can't miss" episode of Houston Aggie Women Networking Luncheons.

Second Tuesday of every month - networking starts at 11:30 a.m., lunch from 11:50 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Join us for good food, good conversation, and an interesting speaker - sometimes an Aggie, sometimes not, but always interesting.

Afraid you won't know anyone there?  Bring a friend!

Can't find a friend to bring?  Don't worry!  In a room full of friendly Aggies, you're bound to find a conversation to join. And with our wide range of Class Years, you'll probably find someone with a Class Ring just like yours.
